Attending a live sporting event can be an unforgettable experience for fans. Unfortunately, not every trip to the stadium ends with happy memories. There are countless clips online showing sports fans fighting, arguing, and having surprising outbursts. For one Wisconsin fan, a trip to watch the Green Bay Packers was marred by an encounter with an aggressive Chicago Bears fan.
The TikTok video, posted by user @richard.evans.2, starts off with the altercation already underway. Meaning, viewers don’t get to see what led up to the older man harassing the Wisconsin NFL fan. Yet, the person recording was able to get much of the encounter on camera.
Social media users are then treated to a front-row seat to the older man’s crash out. Many viewers even pointed out that his eyes appear to be glossed over and he looks to be struggling to stay balanced, believing that he’s possibly intoxicated. The Bears fan in the video can be seen bending down to get to eye level with the younger man, who is still sitting in his seat.
He can then be heard asking him, “Have you ever been in a fight?” The Bears fan continues on by telling the younger fan, “Don’t look away, look at me,” before repeating the original question. One of the Wisconsin man’s friends then chimes in, stating that they have been in a fight. Although the older gentleman doesn’t seem interested in them, but he does tell them they have a “very punchable face.”
TikTok Reacts To Wisconsin NFL Fan’s Altercation With Bears Fan
The TikTok comment section also had a lot to say regarding this altercation, as many users didn’t hesitate to leave behind their own thoughts and jokes. “Don’t come to Wisconsin if you can’t handle your alcohol intake,” claimed one. Another wrote, “Bears fan here, we don’t claim him.” A different user then joked, “I remember my first beer as well.” “This is why I watch the games at home,” pointed out someone else. Finally, one last person’s comment also read, “Is it ever that serious?”
As the TikTok video continues, the younger man is able to keep the situation from escalating, but still defends himself a little. In regard to the aggressor’s question about being in a fight, he responds, “Not with some 40-year-old geezer, who can’t even afford a seat.” This seems to really get under the older guy’s skin as he repeats the word geezer with a disgusted look on his face. The clip would then come to an end with the man suddenly seeing the camera pointed at him, and quickly straightening up his act.
NFL Fans Fighting In The Stands Is Nothing New
It turns out, encounters like these are pretty common, not only in states like Wisconsin, but all over the country. A TikTok video from a Cincinnati Bengals shows a heated encounter between a group of football fans in the stands. This situation also involved two women and the men they attended the event with.
According to Fox News, fans of the Patriots and Seahawks were engaged in a brawl during the Seattle home opener in September, while fans of the New York Giants and LA Rams made headlines with a fight in the stands as well, per The Sun.
These are just a few of the countless reports of sports fans getting into altercations in the stands. Unfortunately, this seems to be becoming commonplace at games, especially in the NFL.
What Happens When Fans Fight At An NFL Game?
Fan fights are usually caused by competitive intensity, the availability of alcohol, and seating or access dispute, per Mountain Top University. The consequences of an altercation in the stands include possible ejection from the game, being banned from stadiums, or even legal charges.
If you find yourself in such an encounter, the university suggests trying to de-escalate the situation by using calm, non-threatening language, creating physical distance, and alerting staff to the dispute.
At the end of the day, at least nobody got hurt during the Wisconsin interaction. Luckily, the younger men were able to keep their cool and understand the situation that they were in. As for the Chicago Bears fan, this is not a good look, and certainly not a way to represent your favorite team.
