Tennessee Woman Films Grandfather Making A Costly Mistake With His Brand New Convertible: ‘Feels Like An SNL Skit’

This Tennessee grandfather’s new car now needs some repairs.

A woman in Tennessee was fresh off a visit with her grandparents, who were out and about on a beautiful fall day, when she caught a funny, yet cringe-worthy moment on camera. @macey_mexico had TikTok rolling in laughter when she recorded her grandfather in a moment he instantly wished he could take back.

In the TikTok clip, Macey and another woman are waving goodbye to her grandparents, who are backing out of her driveway in a shiny new red convertible. As they get closer to the end, one of the women tells her grandfather, who is driving, to watch out for the gate. Sadly, it’s too late.

Tennessee Grandpa’s Driving Mistake Goes Viral

The grandpa, named Kenny, gets out of the car to survey the damage, and scolds himself immediately. “Oh, Kenny,” he says, hilariously disappointed in his own mistake. Macey’s grandmother, Carol, also gets out to see how bad it is, and finds herself gasping at the scratch on the side of what was revealed as their new car. “Oh, Kenny,” she echos.

The girls laugh as their parents look on in annoyance, and couldn’t believe that they got the incident on camera. One of them suggests that he turn around before exiting the driveway the second time around. “Well that’s probably what I should’ve done,” Macey’s grandpa says regretfully. “But ya didn’t,” his wife retorts.

“It’ll get fixed,” Kenny yells as he gets back into the car. The clip then cuts to her father turning around in her yard and driving through the gate properly. “Watch my apple trees,” one of the women yells out jokingly. “I think you need a wider gate,” her grandpa says as he leaves. “It’s ten feet!” Macey replies.

Macey’s grandma then interjects, saying that the gate is fine, then pointing at her husband, hilariously blaming him for the driving mistake. Her grandparents honk and wave as they drive away.

TikTok Users Say Kenny Will Never Live It Down

The internet was left in stitches over the wholesome, yet unfortunate, situation. “Thanksgiving topic for the next 35 years,” one person said in the comment section. “The adventures of Kenny and Carol! Coming to a gate near you!” quipped another.

“This feels like an SNL skit,” a third person pointed out. “Kenny and Carol seem like an absolute blast,” a fourth comment read. “Poor Kenny is never gonna hear the end of that one,” said another.

How Much Does It Cost to Repair a Car Scratch?

A scratch on a car can be anything from a relatively inexpensive cosmetic fix to a much bigger repair bill. Minor scratches that only affect the clear coat may cost roughly $100 to $300 to have professionally repaired, while deeper scratches that require paintwork can run several hundred dollars or more. If a body panel needs significant repair or replacement, the cost can climb considerably higher.

According to AAA, cosmetic repairs can range from relatively inexpensive touch-ups to much more costly bodywork depending on the extent of the damage. A professional body shop will generally need to inspect the vehicle before providing an accurate estimate.

For Kenny, the good news is that the damage shown in the video appears to be limited to the side of the convertible. However, viewers can’t determine from the video alone how deep the scratch is or whether there is any damage underneath the paint. Either way, it looks like he’ll be shelling out some money to repair the vehicle damage.

At least Kenny didn’t let a little mishap ruin his day. The convertible can be fixed, but the footage of his encounter with the gate is probably going to stick around for a lot longer. And if TikTok has anything to say about it, Kenny and Carol may have just become everyone’s favorite grandparents.
